Colleges and You Tube

Colleges are increasingly embracing social media such as You Tube as ways to communicate with students. Professors incorporate the videos into the lesson plan trying to keep up with the new generation. It is easy to find a video that relates to any class that a person is taking. Some schools are turning to You Tube to give students and potential students a taste of campus life. One University switched its videos from its website to a You Tube channel and has seen the number of views increase 300 percent in a year. Colleges posts clips ranging from athletic events to campus performances to service projects abroad. The new generation is more inclined to view a You Tube video than something that is posted somewhere else. Colleges can get more exposure by posting videos about the school and everything that the school has to offer. This could the new way to attract new students.

  1. Believe it or not I had never seen a YouTube video until we started this class. Guess I am really slow to catch on to new technology!
