You Tube has been criticized for not making sure that its videos respect the copyright laws. The site has a message that clearly tells the person uploading the video not to upload any TV shows, music videos, commercials, etc without permission. Many unauthorized clips still make it on the site. You Tube does not view videos before they are posted online, this is left to the copyright holders to issue a take down notice. Copywriters feel that the site is too lax on controlling unauthorized videos and have tried to sue the site several times. The site has also received criticism over offensive content in some of the videos. Criminal conduct, defamation, and pornography are prohibited by the site. You Tube relies on its users to flag the inappropriate content and a site employee will view it to see whether it violated the sites terms of service. The site feels that this is the best way to handle any problems since so many videos are being uploaded daily.

As huge a site as Youtube is, it would be almost impossible for Youtube to monitor. It was a great choice to allow users do monitor the videos as they are the ones who are actually seeing them. That was a very smart and economical choice.
ReplyDeleteI hope that this helps with the many downloads and uploads that are posted daily
ReplyDeleteOne day this conduct will cause someone serious problems.
ReplyDeleteThis can really be a problem; they should be careful. Should users be careful as well?
ReplyDeleteIt really is, because my baby girl likes Barney and I search the Barney song in youtube, some had Barney cursing and acting out of character, now i think that should be banded.
